Dear future SENDCo, We are looking for a confident, ambitious and thoughtful practitioner who wants to make a real difference — not just maintain what already works. If you believe inclusion belongs at the heart of a school (not filed away in a policy), and you’re someone who is curious, reflective and keen to keep getting better, then this might be the role for you.

You’ll lead SEND across the school — but this isn’t just about systems and paperwork. You’ll shape provision, support staff, work closely with families, and stay connected to the classroom through teaching. Put simply: you’ll have real influence, and real responsibility.

Essential
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • National Award for SEN Coordination / NPQ SENDCO (or working towards)
  • Strong working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
  • Proven experience of improving outcomes for pupils with SEND
  • Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills
  • Strong commitment to inclusive education and high expectations
Desirable
  • Experience as a SENDCo in a primary setting
  • Experience working within a school with high SEND needs
  • Experience of multi-agency working and EHCP processes
