Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), University of the Arts Singapore, an esteemed arts institution with a global reputation seeks a Senior Lecturer (Piano) at the School of Music.
Main Roles and Responsibilities
- Teaching and Student Development: Deliver 16–20 contact hours per week across diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate programmes. Teach Principal Study (Piano), chamber music, and performance-related modules, and mentor students in artistic and technical development. Participate in juries, examinations, auditions, and performance assessments.
- Artistic, Academic and Research Contribution: Contribute to curriculum development in piano performance, chamber music, and contemporary repertoire. Maintain an active artistic practice and/or research practice consistent with university expectations, including engagement with contemporary repertoires, creative performance approaches, and evolving practices in the classical music field. Support School-led artistic platforms, including recitals, studio projects, interdisciplinary initiatives, and performance events.
- Industry, Community and Regional Engagement: Build and maintain professional networks with artists, ensembles, festivals, and institutions to enhance student opportunities and School visibility. Lead or support masterclasses, workshops, and outreach projects. Contribute to regional and international initiatives that strengthen NAFA’s artistic and educational footprint.
- Recruitment, Marketing and Outreach: Support student recruitment through auditions, open house, masterclasses, and regional outreach activities. Represent NAFA as an artistic ambassador for the music programmes.
- Administrative Responsibilities: Undertake administrative duties expected of senior academic staff, including documentation, coordination tasks, and committee service. Support the Associate Dean in academic and operational matters where required.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in music or equivalent professional profile.
- Significant track record as a performing artist with experience in solo and chamber performance, festivals, collaborations, and/or recordings.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant teaching experience at the conservatoire or tertiary level.
- Strong pedagogical skills in studio teaching, chamber coaching, and performance training.
- Active artistic practice and/or research practice aligned with university standards in performance, creative work, or artistic inquiry.
- Experience in artistic planning, project development, curation, or interdisciplinary work is advantageous.
- Experience in international competitions, juries, festivals, or community engagement is preferred.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a diverse faculty.
