Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), University of the Arts Singapore, seeks an administratively strong Gallery Administrator at Art Galleries (AG). Inaugurated in 2004, the art galleries at NAFA strive to maintain a high standard brand name in the local art scene, with state-of-the-art lighting and gallery capacities, and honed experience in curating and design of commissioned and proposed exhibitions. NAFA is a key player known for staging unique exhibitions with an international outlook.
Responsibilities
- The role involves supporting the planning, execution, and documentation of exhibitions and projects under the Institute of Southeast Asian Arts (ISEAA).
- The incumbent is responsible for end-to-end exhibition logistics, liaising with artists and organisers, coordinating with vendors and internal teams, and overseeing installation, event operations, deinstallation, and project documentation.
- You will administer, manage, and maintain documentation of the NAFA Collection (including physical artworks and digital exhibition archives), with a focus on registrar duties, collection management, and developing research-based content for publication on the ISEAA microsite.
- In addition, you will support and contribute to digitalization strategies for exhibitions and the collection by managing data to enhance the Collection, maintaining e-commerce processes and inventory of ISEAA’s published works, and serving as the liaison for researchers accessing the archives.
Qualifications
- You should possess at least a Degree in Arts and Humanities subjects such as Philosophy, Literature, or Southeast Asian Studies, with a minimum of five years of relevant work experience, including at least two years in a museum environment.
- A strong understanding of both the local and international arts landscape is essential.
- Proficiency in English and Chinese (both written and spoken) is required, and working knowledge of Southeast Asian languages would be an added advantage.
- To succeed in this role, you should be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and comfortable with IT systems.
- Experience in developing content for social media platforms will be beneficial.
- You should be a collaborative team player with strong communication skills, an eye for detail, and a flair for creative thinking.
- The ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders is also important.
