Working closely with cross-functional departments, the role involves managing production teams, maintaining compliance with GMP and ISO standards, optimizing resource use, and driving continuous improvement. The Manufacturing Manager also plays a key role in staff development, performance management, and supporting recruitment activities.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage internal production teams.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Warehouse, and Planning departments to ensure efficient and continuous production.
- Ensure full compliance with company quality standards, including ISO, GMP, and Health & Safety regulations.
- Uphold GMP standards, policies, and practices as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Oversee the induction process for all new employees—temporary or permanent—in line with the Company Safety Policy.
- Ensure Team Leaders and Production Operatives are trained in accordance with SOPs and company policies.
- Conduct accurate and timely stock checks in collaboration with Stock Control.
- Foster a culture of accountability by empowering staff to take ownership of their responsibilities, with regular feedback and performance expectations.
- Review and assess the performance of Team Leaders and production staff.
- Organise and supervise overtime production as needed, ensuring appropriate oversight and support.
- Prepare regular reports on production performance, including daily outputs, downtime, work centre utilisation, and weekly timesheets.
- Collaborate with HR to recruit, interview, and hire appropriate staff as required.
- Effectively manage the use of agency staff to ensure cost-efficiency and operational continuity.
Candidate Criteria:
- Degree-qualified or equivalent in Engineering or related discipline.
- Significant leadership experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Strong background in lean manufacturing and driving cultural change.
- Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and CAD tools.
- Proven experience in a similar Manufacturing Manager role.
- Strong track record of managing and leading production teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, and develop high-performing teams.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within a production team.
