The Opportunity:
A highly successful, specialist technical recruitment company is seeking an experienced SQL Developer to join its small, collaborative IT team based in Middlesex. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong SQL professional to take ownership of business-critical systems within a successful and established organisation. The role offers a high level of autonomy, exposure to a broad range of technologies and the opportunity to work closely with stakeholders across the business to deliver meaningful technical solutions.
The position is primarily focused on SQL development, database management, reporting and business systems, with approximately 80% of your time dedicated to technical development and systems-related activities. The remaining 20% will involve application support, troubleshooting technical issues and assisting users to ensure the smooth operation of business-critical systems.
As part of a small and highly effective IT team, no two days are the same. You may be investigating complex database issues, optimising SQL performance or developing new functionality one day, and supporting users with application access, system issues or technical queries the next. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain and optimise SQL Server databases, queries, stored procedures and reports.
- Analyse, troubleshoot and resolve complex database, data and application issues.
- Support and enhance business-critical systems and applications.
- Provide application and user support when required.
- Support user account administration, system access and day-to-day technical queries.
- Design and implement database improvements to increase performance, efficiency and reliability.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software and networking issues.
- Work closely with stakeholders across the business to gather requirements and deliver effective technical solutions.
- Assist with system upgrades, integrations and IT improvement projects.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal systems, processes and technology platforms.
- Contribute to IT projects, system upgrades and process improvements.
- Document solutions and technical procedures.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Strong SQL Server development experience.
- Experience developing and maintaining SQL databases, stored procedures, views and reporting solutions.
- Strong database troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience of database performance tuning and optimisation.
- Experience supporting business applications and end users.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, proactive and able to manage a varied workload.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience working with document management and electronic signature solutions, such as Adobe eSign.
- Experience supporting business applications in a commercial environment.
- Knowledge of system integration and process automation.
- Experience working within a small IT team environment.
- Exposure to Microsoft-based business systems and technologies.
- Understanding of application support and business process improvement.
