We are looking for an experienced, warm and engaging Daily Nanny-Educator for a lovely professional family based in Notting Hill, caring for their daughter aged 8 years. Both parents work full-time and their daughter attends school locally, so this is a largely sole-charge position for a nanny who is confident taking responsibility for all aspects of a busy school-aged child's day.
The hours will be Monday to Friday, 7.30am–6.30pm, with a half day off each week (unpaid). The family lives within easy walking distance of school, parks, playgrounds and all the amenities of Notting Hill, and a driver is not required.
The nanny will take care of the morning routine and school runs (with occasional overlap with the parents), prepare fresh, healthy home-cooked meals and manage all nursery/school-related organisation. Duties will also include:
- Wardrobe management
- Arranging activities and playdates
- Keeping on top of school and after-school schedules
- Running occasional child/family-related errands
The family employs a housekeeper three times per week, so there are no cleaning duties with this position.
The Nanny-Educator element: Their daughter is a bright and engaging little girl who would benefit from some additional encouragement and confidence-building with reading, spelling and numeracy. The family is therefore particularly interested in finding a nanny who genuinely enjoys the educational side of working with this age group and can make learning fun and positive. Patience and a creative approach are far more important than formal teaching methods. Experience with early literacy, phonics or primary-school education would be a real bonus, as would some understanding of dyslexia or different learning styles. A teaching qualification is certainly not essential — an experienced career nanny who is confident supporting homework and children's learning would be equally suitable.
Most importantly, the family would like someone warm, upbeat and encouraging who will take a genuine interest in their daughter's confidence, wellbeing and overall development. Outside school and homework, they would love their nanny to encourage an active and sociable lifestyle, arranging playdates, activities and outings and making the most of the wonderful parks and amenities nearby.
Candidates should have a minimum of five years' experience in a similar role, an Enhanced DBS, up-to-date First Aid and excellent checkable references.
Hours: Monday–Friday, 7.30am–6.30pm, with one unpaid half day per week
Start: ASAP
Location: Notting Hill, London W2
Driver: Not required
Pets: None
Holiday: UK statutory holiday entitlement
Babysitting: Additional babysitting available, paid separately
Travel: There may also be the opportunity to accompany the family on their two-week summer holiday.
This is a super position for a polished, capable and proactive nanny who enjoys school-aged children and can offer that lovely combination of excellent nanny care and gentle educational support. We are interviewing now for an early September start.
