Nancarrow is an Organic Farm, producing beef, lamb and pork, with on-site kitchen gardens, orchards, butchery and larder. Our vision is to create a totally unique place to feast, a memorable, collaborative eating experience with our farm's produce at the heart.
The Kitchen Porter plays a key role within our small team. The primary purpose of the role is to support the Kitchen team delivering a year-round calendar of events and to contribute to the unique customer experience and our 5 star rating at Nancarrow.
Responsibilities:- Support our small kitchen team in the following areas:
- Washing and cleaning of food preparation machinery and equipment
- General kitchen cleaning and deep cleans
- Receiving and storing deliveries correctly, including stock labelling and rotation
- Carrying out all tasks to a high quality, in keeping with current health and safety regulations
- Basic food preparation
- Manage and adhere to our current procedures regarding kitchen waste, recycling and composting
- An opportunity to develop basic cooking skills & food service
- Harvesting and preparing Kitchen Garden vegetables
- To work well within a team and individually
Ideally, though not essential, the candidate will have basic knowledge or experience of a Kitchen environment, including food preparation, health & hygiene, and should be comfortable working in an outdoor environment. The Kitchen Assistant will play a crucial role maintaining high standards of cleanliness and the appearance of the site which we operate in.
The role can vary in work disciplines day to day depending on the event we have and work on the site that may need doing. Our candidate would ideally have the mindset of being able to turn their hand at whatever task takes highest priority at the time, being flexible in tasks whether they call for outside, Kitchen, cleaning or even Farm duties.
You will be working in a busy, fast paced environment and therefore you must possess a strong work ethic and a positive approach to your duties and our ethos.
In return the role provides genuine variety and a fantastic opportunity to learn, develop & progress in a rewarding environment. Due to the location on the outskirts of Truro, it is essential that the candidate has transportation.
