Company Description: Nammo UK is increasingly recognised as a leader in in-Space propulsion engineering and production. Our order book is growing rapidly, and with growth comes challenge. We are at a stage where knowledge transfer and competency-based learning and development are critical for us to ensure we can plan for succession and ensure that new team members, many of whom are young and relatively inexperienced, learn in a systematic and motivating way.
To help us on this journey, we are looking for an experienced L&D Manager with a strong technical background. You will have experience of translating work processes into learning packages and of ensuring knowledge does not sit with very few individuals. Working with teams in Engineering, Test, Production, and Quality, you will liaise with managers and subject matter experts to craft a coherent L&D framework which we can roll out to current and existing team members to ensure we achieve and maintain the highest standards of performance.
This is a fixed term role for 18 months to deliver these outcomes as a bespoke project. You will report to the Head of HR and work to impart knowledge to other HR team colleagues who are themselves on development journeys. We envisage this to be a 24 hour per week role which will require mainly site-based work at our Westcott (and occasionally Cheltenham) site.
Key project outcomes will include:
- Lead the design, delivery, and management of L&D frameworks for colleagues in Engineering, Production, Quality, and Test functions;
- Conduct training needs analyses to identify skills gaps at individual, team, and organisation level;
- Identify single points of failure in the business and develop and deliver a process to enable knowledge transfer;
- Work with managers and SMEs to agree on a competency framework which we can rely on in terms of knowledge and process;
- Support the Early Careers Development Manager to develop pathways of learning for entry-level staff;
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and professional growth across the business;
- Provide end of project recommendations and lessons learned.
To be considered you must:
- Have a relevant STEM subject qualification, equivalent to degree level;
- Have experience of working in a Design-to-Production environment;
- Have experience developing competency-based learning frameworks that can work from Apprentice/Graduate to Senior Engineer level;
- Ability to work effectively with a wide range of colleagues to ensure core knowledge needs are understood and plans developed to ensure effective transfer of this knowledge;
- Experience delivering training/workshop learning for line managers and others involved in delivering the processes you develop;
- Understanding of standard project management techniques;
- Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills;
- An ability to make information relevant and accessible to the end user;
- A commitment to continuous improvement;
- An understanding of workplace safety (IOSH or similar preferred but not essential);
- Experience of working within a formal QA system (ideally AS9100).
YOU MUST HAVE A FULL RIGHT TO WORK IN THE UK, without which no application will be considered. In return, we offer a competitive salary and benefits package and the opportunity to work as part of the exciting growth in the Space sector expansion.
If you wish to be considered for this role, please send your CV and a maximum 2-page explainer on how you imagine delivering on these key project outcomes to Anne. Informal enquiries are welcome via the same email address. No Agencies at this point please.
