As the financial accountant, you’ll play a key role in supporting the financial operations of NAMED COLLECTIVE, working closely with the Financial Controller to deliver accurate financial reporting, compliance, and analysis. You will have the opportunity to further develop your career, contributing to strategic financial decision‑making and business growth.

Detail obsessed: You have a strong attention to accuracy and consistency, ensuring all transactions, reconciliations, and financial records are correct and compliant with regulations.

Proactive problem‑solver: You can interpret financial data, identify discrepancies or variances, and collaborate across teams (such as operations and community experience) to resolve issues effectively and improve financial processes.

Accounting pro: You’ll bring solid accounting knowledge (including VAT, management accounts, and audits) and can adapt to handling diverse tasks such as e‑commerce transactions, inventory accounting, and inter‑company reconciliations.

Role responsibilities:

  • Process and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely payment and collections.
  • Ensure that all transactions (sales, expenses, purchases) are correctly recorded in the accounting system.
  • Help manage and track e‑commerce sales transactions, returns, and refunds in collaboration with the operations team.
  • Prepare VAT returns, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Assist in budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Manage day‑to‑day bookkeeping tasks, including posting journal entries, recording all financial transactions, and maintaining accurate records in the general ledger.
  • Prepare weekly payment run, reconcile bank statements, credit card transactions, and payment gateway accounts (e.g., PayPal, Stripe) regularly.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
  • Support the preparation of year‑end financial statements and work closely with auditors.
  • Reconcile inter‑company transactions and resolve discrepancies.
  • Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring all entries are accurate and in accordance with company policies.
  • Support with stock valuation and inventory accounting in line with the business requirements.

A good fit looks like:

  • Part‑qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with a strong desire to complete your qualification.
  • Previous experience in a finance role, ideally within an e‑commerce or retail business.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficient in using accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) and Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Knowledge of VAT and tax regulations, specifically in the context of e‑commerce.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with excellent organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise across departments and present financial information to non‑financial stakeholders.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying areas for improvement.
  • Experience in managing e‑commerce sales data, including integration with platforms such as Shopify or similar.
  • Knowledge of multi‑currency transactions and international tax regulations.
  • Based in London.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
