Nal’s Bakery is looking for an experienced, reliable and confident baker to join our growing independent bakery. We currently produce a range of brownies, blondies, cookies, cakes, traybakes, buns and other baked goods for our weekly market in Waterloo, private orders, corporate catering and larger events.
I'm looking for someone who can work alongside me initially, learn our recipes and production systems, and eventually take greater responsibility for bakery production as the business grows. Role will include:
- Producing brownies, blondies, cookies, cakes, traybakes, buns and other bakery products to our recipes and standards.
- Weighing, mixing, baking, portioning and finishing products.
- Preparing larger batches efficiently for markets and events.
- Following recipes accurately and maintaining consistency.
- Packing, labelling and organising finished stock.
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene and cleanliness throughout production.
- Cleaning down equipment and work areas.
- Helping organise ingredients, stock and bakery equipment.
- Working efficiently to production deadlines.
- Assisting with larger event production, including our upcoming carnival.
- Eventually contributing ideas for new products, flavours and seasonal menus.
What I’m looking for:
- You must have at least 2 years of practical baking experience, ideally within a bakery, café, restaurant, pastry kitchen or professional food-production environment.
- You should be comfortable working independently once trained and confident producing multiple products during a busy baking session.
- You’ll need to be reliable, organised, clean, efficient and genuinely passionate about baking.
- I’m looking for someone who takes their work seriously but also enjoys working in a relaxed, friendly small-business environment.
- This is particularly suited to someone who wants to grow with a young bakery rather than simply clock in and out of a shift.
Opportunity to grow:
Nal’s Bakery is still growing, so I’m looking for someone who could potentially grow with the business. As production expands, there will be an opportunity for the right person to take on greater responsibility and potentially progress towards a Head Baker/production leadership position. I want whoever joins me to eventually have room to be creative, contribute ideas and have genuine input into the bakery’s product development. I'll also teach you my recipes, methods and everything I’ve learned from building Nal’s Bakery.
Pay & start: £15 per hour. I’m looking for somebody who can ideally start Wednesday 26 August, with availability to meet me and complete a trial shift this week. The immediate production schedule will include preparing for our weekly Waterloo market and a large carnival event, so availability over the next two weeks is particularly important.
