We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join our Global High Tech (GHT) team. This role combines process engineering, project execution, and technical-commercial support, playing a key role in developing innovative water and wastewater solutions for industrial clients. The position requires a strong ability to design, sell, and deliver complex projects end-to-end, while building long-term relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.

Objectives

  • Development of Global High Tech (GHT) opportunities: partner with project development team to provide project engineering support by developing process flow sheets, preparing proposals & estimates, providing the technical/commercial support at meetings with clients.
  • Project Management of TWM projects: lead the execution phase guiding project team and sub-vendors with responsibility on project KPIs (cost, time performance); supervise commissioning, start-up and handover of the plant to O&M team.
  • Support O&M (Operation & Maintenance) team for troubleshooting and continuous improvement implementation in existing GHT contracts.
  • Ability to build long-term relationships with internal and external customers by understanding their key business drivers. High emotional intelligence level is required for this position.

Recommended profile

  • Education: Chemical / Environmental / Mechanical Engineering Degree
  • Minimum 10 years experience with the design and supporting the sale of water and/or wastewater equipment and systems, including clarification, filtration, membrane separation, RO/UF, DAF, solids separation, metals removal and biological, to industrial clients.
  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience in project execution
  • Having familiarity with water treatment plant commissioning and start-up
  • Communication skills: English & French/Spanish fluent written and verbal
  • People relating attitude and capable to work in team
  • Strong commercial mindset and financial acumen
  • Synthesis and pragmatic approach
  • Able to manage conflict and job-related pressure
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel 50% of time to perform proper discovery and developing the cost basis for each project and present proposed solutions.
  • High computer application literacy (including Microsoft Office suite, and ability to learn business systems). Autocad preferred.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Functionally report in the Commercial Engineering organization to the GHT Engineering Manager.
  • Based in France (UK / Spain) wfr and have regular contact with his/her direct supervisor.
  • Be competent in a wide range of water treatment process technologies and have proven knowledge of designing water treatment systems (prepare mass balance, flow sheet, water mapping, select equipment and costing, prepare documents to support commercial discussion).
  • Be familiar with engineering drawings (P&ID, General Arrangement, Isometric sketches, data sheets, troubleshooting list, electrical and automation drawings, etc.).
  • Be able to analyze water and wastewater systems from a mechanical, operational and chemical standpoint and propose solutions that comply with customer needs and the regulatory framework.
  • Proactively works with clients and Ecolab/Nalco colleagues to determine project needs and identify customer needs by evaluating business models specific to their wastewater and pretreatment operations and develop project specifications.
  • Supervise and/or take over on site survey, conception and basic design by making sure the best technical and economical compromise is reached between OPEX and CAPEX.
  • Utilize technical expertise and financial acumen to support projects qualification and wisely use own time and resources on projects with the highest probability of success.
  • On a project base, make sure to fit with the available budget for each part of the project, and able to discuss with Peers/Manager in case of any problem rising (engineering, partners, and fabricants) during the project execution and improve construction methods.
  • Be able to communicate with many levels of personnel with Nalco Company and external (i.e. Customer, Contractors).
  • Have had experience, even if limited, with plant operation & maintenance.
  • Maintain customer relationships and coordinate to address technical/business issues and renewals within sold O&M accounts.
  • Assist on existing OM contracts for troubleshooting and diagnostic and Improvements identification.
  • Be aware of most used international standards and norms required for equipment construction and certification.
  • Be aware of Safety & Environmental aspects of legislation.
