Your Mission
Be a key leader in showing our banking partners and government agencies that we fully compliant and actively managing our regulatory risk against specific requirements and laws.
Your responsibilities in this role
- Suspicious Activity Reporting: Receive, assess, and escalate reports of suspicious financial activity within the organization. Make Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) when necessary, following all legal requirements.
- AML/CTF Policies: Develop, maintain, and implement effective AML and CTF policies, procedures, and controls. Ensure these policies are in compliance with the latest regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Staff Training and Awareness: Provide comprehensive AML/CTF training to employees, ensuring they are aware of their responsibilities and capable of identifying and reporting suspicious activities. Offer ongoing guidance and support to staff.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure NALA complies with all relevant AML/CTF regulations, laws, and guidelines. Stay updated on changes in regulations and adjust internal processes accordingly.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments to identify and mitigate AML/CTF risks specific to the organization. Determine the appropriate risk-based approach to customer due diligence and ongoing monitoring.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and accessible records, including Suspicious Activity Reports, customer due diligence, and transaction records, for regulatory and compliance purposes
Must-Have Requirements
- You will have acted as an MLRO before and are in good standing with the FCA
- 5+ years’ experience as a compliance professional at a payment services provider, financial institution, challenger bank or Fintech.
- Experience creating and delivering reports to the FCA
- Expert level of knowledge and experience of best practice risk management and governance frameworks and methodologies
- Experience in merchant acquiring payments, gateway, e-money or wallet products and services, banking functions, and/or merchant processing
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and lead cross-functional teams.

- Familiar with remittances into the African & Asian continents

- Completed a UK AML/CTF risk assessment and presented a clear gap analysis to the Board.
- Strengthened key compliance processes, including SAR/STR handling and management reporting.
- Managed AML training across UK teams, achieving near-universal completion.
6-Month Metrics
- Implemented enhanced AML/CTF policies and improved transaction monitoring efficiency.
- Established a consistent global AML framework aligned across multiple jurisdictions.
- Led an internal AML compliance review, with an action plan agreed by the Board.
