We are seeking an experienced Carpentry & Joinery Assessor to support apprenticeship programmes and workplace learning. The successful candidate will manage a caseload of learners, supporting them to achieve their qualifications and prepare for End Point Assessment while working closely with employers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct inductions and initial assessments to identify learner needs and develop individual learning plans with realistic targets.
  • Work with employers to ensure understanding of apprenticeship requirements, including the 20% off-the-job training requirement.
  • Manage and support a caseload of apprentices, guiding them toward successful completion of their Apprenticeship Standard.
  • Monitor learner progress in the workplace and conduct regular reviews with employers.
  • Provide information, advice and guidance to learners to support achievement of learning aims and objectives.
  • Deliver structured training support and contribute to schemes of work and lesson planning where required.
  • Support delivery of additional qualifications such as NVQs or other work-based learning programmes when required.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with employers and external partners to support recruitment and programme development.
  • Conduct employer health and safety risk assessments prior to learners starting workplace training.
  • Maintain accurate learner records including reviews, progress reports and enrolment documentation.
  • Contribute to programme targets including learner retention, achievement and attendance.
  • Promote equality, diversity and inclusive learning environments while adhering to safeguarding and health and safety policies.

Requirements

Essential

  • Level 3 qualification in Carpentry & Joinery or a relevant trade.
  • Practical industry experience within the carpentry and joinery sector.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to support and motivate learners.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.

Desirable

  • TAQA or A1 Assessor qualification, or willingness to work towards.
  • Teaching qualification.
  • GCSE English and Maths grade C/4 or equivalent.
  • Internal Verification qualification (V1).
  • Experience working with apprenticeships or work-based learning programmes.

Additional Information

  • Temporary contract for a minimum of 10 weeks.
  • 37 hours per week.
  • Travel to employer sites required.
