Head of Design Technology Vacancy - January Start - 6k TLR Location: March, Cambridgeshire Contract: Permanent, Full-Time Start Date: January 2027 Salary: MPS/UPS + TLR School Type: Secondary Academy An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and ambitious Design Technology Teacher to join a secondary academy in March, Cambridgeshire, as Head of Design Technology. The school is looking for a strong classroom practitioner who can take responsibility for the leadership and development of Design Technology across the academy. This could suit an existing Head of Design Technology, 2iC or Subject Lead, as well as an experienced DT Teacher with additional responsibilities who is ready to take the next step into departmental leadership. The Role As Head of Design Technology, you will: * Lead and develop the Design Technology department * Take responsibility for curriculum planning and development * Support high standards of teaching and learning across the department * Monitor pupil progress and help drive improved outcomes * Lead, support and develop colleagues within the department * Promote an engaging and ambitious DT curriculum * Teach Design Technology across KS3 and KS4 * Contribute to the wider development of the academy The Ideal Candidate We would be interested in hearing from candidates who: * Hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification * Have strong experience teaching Design Technology at secondary level * Have experience teaching areas such as Product Design, Resistant Materials, Graphics, Engineering or related DT specialisms * Have previous leadership or additional responsibility experience, or are ready to step into their first Head of Department position * Have a strong understanding of the KS3 and KS4 Design Technology curriculum * Are confident leading curriculum development and supporting other teachers * Have high expectations for pupil achievement and behaviour This is a fantastic opportunity for a Design Technology specialist looking to take ownership of a department and play an important role in the continued development of DT within the academy.
