We are working with a well-established secondary school in West London that is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and ambitious Head of History & Politics on a permanent basis from January 2027.
This is an excellent opportunity for an existing Head of Department or an experienced History or Politics teacher looking to take the next step into subject leadership.
The Role
As Head of History & Politics, you will lead the teaching and development of History and Politics across the school, while continuing to have an active classroom teaching responsibility.
- Leading and developing History and Politics across the department
- Teaching History across KS3 and KS4
- Teaching and/or overseeing History and Politics at KS5
- Developing engaging schemes of work
- Maintaining high standards of teaching, learning and achievement
- Supporting and developing colleagues within the department
- Monitoring student progress and implementing strategies to raise attainment
- Contributing to the wider development of the school
Who We're Looking For
We would be particularly interested in hearing from:
- Heads of History, Politics or Humanities
- History or Politics 2iCs
- Subject Leaders and Curriculum Leads
- Experienced History or Politics teachers with additional responsibilities who are ready to step up
Applicants should have QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification, strong History and/or Politics subject knowledge and experience teaching within a UK secondary school.
Experience teaching GCSE History and/or A-Level History or Politics would be highly desirable.
