About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming SEN school in Southwark. This rewarding opportunity involves supporting young learners with a range of special educational needs, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN.
- Assist students in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities.
- Support pupils' social, emotional, and academic development.
- Encourage positive behaviour and help create a safe and engaging learning environment.
- Follow individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and parents.
- Monitor and report on student progress and wellbeing.
- Support students during lessons, break times, and educational outings.
- Assist with personal care where required.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with children or young people is desirable.
- Previous SEN experience is advantageous but not essential.
- A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils and staff.
- Relevant qualifications in Education, Psychology, Health & Social Care, or a related field are welcomed.
