Position: Band 5 rotational scheme covering acute wards and outpatients. The role rotates through rehabilitation, respiratory, trauma & orthopaedics, surgical, neurology, stroke, medicine, cardiology, and musculoskeletal interventions across inpatient care. The post includes weekend working and participation in the on‑call respiratory service. The position is full‑time (37.5 hrs/week) with flexible working over seven days and commitment to respiratory weekend and on‑call rota.

We have two permanent and one temporary posts available on a Band 5 rotation following internal promotions.

Responsibilities
  • Provide physiotherapy assessment, treatment, and discharge planning for a broad case mix of inpatients across acute wards and outpatients.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with nurses, doctors, occupational therapists, and speech & language therapists.
  • Participate in the on‑call respiratory and weekend rota as required.
  • Engage in quality improvement, audit, and research projects aligned with the Trust’s priorities.
  • Support staff development through coaching and mentoring of junior physiotherapists where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation in the Trust’s electronic systems.
Person Specification – Essential
  • Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent.
  • HCPC registered (or pending).
  • Experience working within a multi‑disciplinary team and in NHS settings, particularly in trauma & orthopaedics, medical, respiratory, neurology or mental health.
  • Up‑to‑date clinical skills and entry‑level assessment abilities.
  • Excellent communication, empathy, negotiation, motivation and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in computer use and MS Office.
  • Evidence of clinical audit or research activity.
Person Specification – Desirable
  • Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists.
  • Experience in the listed NHS clinical areas.
