The Nursing Associate has a breadth of knowledge across the lifespan and across fields of nursing, providing holistic and person‑centred care, and supporting people of all ages in a variety of settings. Nursing Associates are equipped with the knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes and behaviours relevant to their area of employment and will work to the NMC Code of Conduct.

Main Duties

  • Work as a member of the multi professional team providing clinical care to patients in the home and community clinic settings as delegated by the registered nurse or registered health care professional.
  • Ensure a high standard of patient‑centred care.
  • Promote self‑management of health needs and adopt a positive risk based care approach.
  • Carry out all relevant forms of care, without direct supervision, and may be required to demonstrate simple procedures to registered and/or non‑registered staff undertaking training where agreed with the nursing team.
  • Deliver complex care, defined as patients with complex care needs following a stroke.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register.
  • Nursing Associate foundation degree qualification.
  • GCSE in English and Maths grade 9 to 4 (A* to C).

Experience

  • Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate.
  • Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information.

Desirable

  • Experience within the specialty.

Skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively (written, verbal and non‑verbal communication) with patients/relatives and carers and all members of the multi disciplinary team.
