To provide advanced level specialist assessment, treatment and education of patients, determine clinical diagnosis and orthopaedic management, and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner. Work independently alongside orthopaedic knee consultants, request investigations and provide extended role management in a clinic setting.
Responsibilities
- Act as an independent practitioner with advanced knowledge in musculoskeletal therapy, integrating research evidence into practice through advanced clinical reasoning and decision making.
- Provide an advisory service to patients, physiotherapists, other healthcare professionals, GP’s and consultants.
- Attend service level discussions and meetings relating to your area of work independently and as delegated by the relevant Senior Operational Manager.
- Support research and contribute to the future development of the service.
- Contribute to the establishment of protocols, guidance and patient information for the development of the service.
Qualifications
- Degree in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy or equivalent.
- HCPC/NMC registered.
- Membership of appropriate clinical interest groups.
- Desirable: Master’s degree in Orthopaedic medicine or evidence of study at this level.
- Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy or College of Occupational Therapy.
Experience
- Significant evidence of post qualification experience in managing musculoskeletal patients.
- Broad range of senior experience of orthopaedic and rehabilitation work.
- Extensive experience of working within a multidisciplinary team.
- High levels of skill and experience of leading/supervising a team.
Practical and Intellectual Skills
- Advanced level assessment and treatment skills.
- Extremely highly developed communication skills.
- Highly developed strategic thinking and vision.
