Role Overview: As Analytics Engineering Manager you will own the semantic layer and governed metrics that define how the business measures itself. You’ll translate stakeholder needs into clean, consistent data products, partner with Data Engineering, and champion the transition to an AI‑native culture.
Location & Flexible Working: London or Norwich office – hybrid role (1 day a week in the office).
Responsibilities:
- Intelligence Layer Ownership: Shape our unified intelligence layer to be trusted by analysts and AI agents.
- Semantic Governance: Define and govern canonical metrics, dimensions, and business logic for company‑wide decision‑making.
- Model Design & Platform Migrations: Specify robust modelling requirements for platform migrations and drive how metrics are exposed.
- dbt Workflow Evolution: Collaborate on our dbt environment, contributing to design, documentation, and testing.
- Strategic Bridge: Mediate between business and Data Engineering, translating complex stakeholder questions into clear modelling requirements.
- Platform Durability: Drive platform portability to keep data products durable, scalable, and stack‑agnostic.
- Technical Review: Own the review process for metric and model changes before production.
- Roadmap Leadership: Shape and steer the long‑term Analytics Engineering roadmap to support a rapidly growing e‑commerce business.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 4+ years in Analytics Engineering or BI Engineering, delivering clean data architectures.
- Technical Proficiency: Deep knowledge of dbt; confident in writing, testing, and documenting models.
- AI Mindset: Incorporate AI into modelling, documentation, or review workflows and experiment with agentic workflows.
- Domain Expertise: Experience in multi‑market/multi‑currency data modelling.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Hands‑on with MPP warehouses (BigQuery or Redshift).
- Data Fundamentals: Strong grasp of data warehousing, dimensional modelling, and governance‑speed balance.
- Engineering Best Practices: Version control (GitLab or GitHub), peer reviews, automated testing.
- Communication Mastery: Translate technical trade‑offs into clear, evidence‑based recommendations for non‑technical stakeholders.
