We are recruiting a passionate, experienced Sous Chef / Senior Sous Chef to lead our team at The Wentworth Arms. Applicants must be hands on, passionate about food, ambitious and organised. The successful candidate will have responsibility over the day to day operation of the kitchen and kitchen team and work with the support of our Executive Chef on menu planning and the more strategic elements of kitchen operations. This is an ideal placement for someone who is aspiring to become a Head Chef.

There are two elements to The Wentworth's food service:

  • The 5 day per week bar service where the vibe is very much relaxed, casual, trendy food. Homemade pizzas, mega tasty burgers and sharing platters.
  • The food for our 80 person event/function space all of which is preplanned but needs fabulous presentation and execution.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supervise and train kitchen staff in food preparation techniques and safety practices.
  • Ensure that all food is prepared in a timely manner while maintaining quality and presentation.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef and GM to develop new menu items and seasonal offerings.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef/Senior Sous Chef or in a similar role within a restaurant environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of culinary techniques, food preparation, and presentation standards.
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment and tools, along with basic maintenance knowledge.
  • A passion for cooking fun and interesting food and commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences.
