Job Description

As a Senior Probation Officer, you will be a vital part of the National Probation Service (NPS), taking on a management and leadership role within a Local Delivery Unit (LDU) or other operational unit. Your responsibilities will include managing and leading staff to the highest standards, offering essential support and cover to other teams during absences, and ensuring adherence to NPS policies on equality and inclusion.

Key duties involve overseeing the quality delivery of best practices, driving team performance improvements, and ensuring the cost-effective deployment of all team resources, including interventions. You will be instrumental in meeting the requirements of the NPS's contracts with HMPPS and Community Rehabilitation Companies, proactively using performance data to maximise LDU/team performance and evaluate practice.

Requirements

• Substantial experience with a proven record of good practice in various settings, including offender risk assessment and management, as a Probation Officer or within another criminal justice agency.
• A deep understanding of the Probation Service's role within the Criminal Justice System and in a multi-disciplinary environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of factors influencing victim engagement.
• Extensive experience in risk management and assessment, coupled with an understanding of multi-agency risk assessment and management procedures.
• Evidence of ability to evaluate practice and provide a practice perspective on policy development.
• Applicants must be eligible for UK Skilled Worker (Tier 2) visa sponsorship, which is available for this role.
• Ability to undergo and pass NPPV Level 2 vetting.
