NHS Blood and Transplant is recruiting Donor Carers to support life‑saving blood donation services across the UK. Contract Details
- Full‑time: 75 hours per fortnight (average of 4 days per week)
- Part‑time: 56.25 hours per fortnight (average of 3 days per week)
- Fixed‑term contracts: 12 months
- Typical working hours: Sunday to Friday, 10:00 am – 9:00 pm
- No night shifts
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and support blood donors throughout their donation journey.
- Deliver excellent customer care and reassurance.
- Register donors and maintain accurate records.
- Monitor donor wellbeing before, during, and after donation.
- Safely handle blood products and medical equipment.
- Prepare donation sessions and assist with set‑up.
- Drive NHS equipment vehicles after receiving full training.
- Work closely with colleagues to ensure a safe and efficient service.
Skills & Requirements
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Experience working with the public.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills.
- A willingness to complete the Skills for Health Care Certificate.
- A full UK manual driving licence with no more than six penalty points.
