Fairhill Solicitors is seeking a commercially driven and experienced Business Development Manager to support the firm’s continued growth.
This is a strategic commercial role for someone who can identify new opportunities, develop valuable business relationships, generate new clients, and turn commercial strategies into measurable results.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Managing Partner and senior members of the firm to develop new markets, strengthen existing client relationships, build strategic partnerships, and identify opportunities to increase revenue across the firm’s legal services.
Experience in business development, sales, account management, commercial management, or a related field is highly desirable.
Previous experience within a law firm or professional services environment would be an advantage but is not essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify new markets, sectors, client groups, and business opportunities.
- Develop and implement business development strategies aligned with the firm’s growth objectives.
- Generate new business through networking, referrals, partnerships, direct engagement, and other channels.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospects, clients, introducers, and commercial partners.
- Develop relationships with businesses, professional advisers, consultants, accountants, recruitment firms, and potential referral partners.
- Build and maintain relationships with major corporate and individual clients.
- Identify opportunities to increase revenue from existing client relationships and promote additional legal services.
- Develop strategic alliances and referral agreements in the UK and internationally.
- Research market trends, competitors, client needs, and emerging commercial opportunities.
- Work with the marketing team to develop campaigns that support lead generation and business growth.
- Support the firm’s positioning, service development, and go-to-market strategies.
- Manage and develop the firm’s CRM system and business development pipeline.
- Track leads, conversion rates, revenue opportunities, and other key business development KPIs.
- Prepare regular reports and commercial analysis for senior management.
- Attend conferences, networking events, business meetings, and other external engagements on behalf of the firm.
- Work closely with lawyers and other team members to convert opportunities into long-term client relationships.
- Identify ways to improve client retention, client experience, and overall commercial performance.
- Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will have
- Significant experience in business development, sales, commercial management, key account management, or a related role.
- A proven track record of generating new business and supporting revenue growth.
- Experience developing and managing senior-level client and commercial relationships.
- Strong experience building strategic partnerships, alliances, and referral networks.
- Excellent negotiation and relationship-management skills.
- Experience developing and implementing commercial or go-to-market strategies.
- Strong understanding of sales funnels, CRM systems, and business development metrics.
- Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities.
- The ability to identify commercial opportunities and turn them into measurable business results.
- Strong presentation, communication, and networking skills.
- Confidence when dealing with business owners, senior executives, and professional advisers.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple commercial activities simultaneously.
- A proactive, entrepreneurial, and results-oriented approach.
Experience in legal services, professional services, consultancy, financial services, or other relationship-driven industries would be beneficial.
Experience working with international clients or developing business in overseas markets would also be an advantage.
