Cemetery Driver Operative – Key Responsibilities

As a Cemetery Driver Operative within the Greenspaces Service, you will support the interment process and carry out a range of operational duties associated with cemetery services.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the excavation, burial and backfilling of burial plots.
• Following Grave Digging Instructions (GDIs) accurately to identify the correct burial plots.
• Working efficiently and within required timeframes.
• Driving and operating a range of vehicles.
• Operating small plant, machinery and hand tools.
• Following relevant legislation, council policies, procedures and safety requirements.
• Complying with Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and Toolbox Talks.
• Working safely, proactively and accurately.
• Supporting the wider Greenspaces Team with day-to-day operational duties.
• Working outdoors throughout the year and carrying out physically demanding tasks.

Requirements

To be considered for the Cemetery Driver Operative position, applicants will need:

• A full UK driving licence, Category B.
• An understanding of relevant health and safety regulations.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• The ability to follow instructions accurately.

Weekend Standby

The service operates a three-person rota for weekend standby duties. Successful applicants will be required to participate approximately once every four to five weekends.

A standby payment of £44.67 per day is provided, along with any applicable overtime payments.
