Job Overview

A well-established bakery business in Liverpool, UK, is looking for an experienced and motivated Bakery Manager / General Manager to oversee its day-to-day operations and support the continued growth of the business.

The successful candidate will manage a team of approximately 20 employees and take responsibility for bakery production, staff management, wholesale and retail operations, food safety, stock control and overall business performance.

This is a senior operational role suited to someone with strong bakery management, food production, leadership and commercial experience.

Key Responsibilities

As the Bakery Manager / General Manager, you will be responsible for:

• Managing the day-to-day operations of bakery production, wholesale and retail.
• Leading, motivating and managing a team of approximately 20 employees.
• Overseeing bakery production to ensure quality, consistency and efficiency.
• Ensuring wholesale orders are prepared accurately and delivered on time.
• Planning production levels according to retail, wholesale and customer demand.
• Creating staff rotas and managing employee training, performance and daily responsibilities.
• Managing stock levels, purchasing, suppliers and waste reduction.
• Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, HACCP, allergen management and health and safety.
• Monitoring sales, labour costs and overall business performance.
• Identifying opportunities to increase sales, profitability and wholesale and retail growth.
• Developing strong relationships with existing wholesale customers.
• Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
• Improving products, production processes and customer service.
• Resolving operational and customer issues effectively.
• Working closely with the business owners to develop growth strategies and improve overall performance.

About the Ideal Candidate

Qualifications

The following qualifications and experience are desirable:

• Food Safety Level 3 qualification
• Previous bakery management experience
• Wholesale food production experience
• Experience managing a team of 15–20+ employees
• At least 4 years of relevant industry experience
• At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience
• 6+ years of bakery experience would be advantageous
