Job Responsibilities

As a Care Assistant, your duties may include:

• Providing personal care and assistance with daily living activities
• Supporting clients with washing, dressing and other personal needs
• Preparing meals and assisting with nutrition
• Supporting medication administration in line with care plans and procedures
• Providing companionship and emotional support
• Helping clients maintain their independence and wellbeing
• Following individual care plans and ensuring care is delivered safely and appropriately
• Monitoring clients’ wellbeing and reporting changes to the relevant healthcare professionals
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date care records
• Communicating professionally with clients, families and other members of the care team
• Travelling to clients’ homes and attending appointments where required
• Participating in training sessions and team meetings

Care Assistant Requirements

Applicants should have:

• A caring, patient and compassionate approach
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to work effectively with clients, families and colleagues
• Good spoken and written English
• A full UK driving licence
• The ability to travel between client locations
• Basic knowledge of IT systems for care documentation is advantageous

Previous experience in home care, supported living or a care home is desirable. However, training may be provided for suitable candidates.

Salary and Employment Details

• Salary: £12.85–£14.00 per hour
• Mileage: £0.45 per mile
• Employment: Full-time
• Work location: In person / client homes
• Driving licence: Mandatory
• Home care experience: 1 year desirable/required according to the vacancy
• Supported living experience: 1 year desirable
• Education: GCSE or equivalent desirable
