- An exciting opportunity is available for a
Bookkeeper / Accounts Payable & Finance Assistant to support the day-to-day finance operations of a growing business.
The successful candidate will help maintain accurate supplier accounts, bank transactions and accounting records while working closely with the Finance Manager, CFO and wider operational teams.
The role also offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of improved financial systems, procedures and controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounts Payable
- Process supplier invoices accurately and efficiently.
- Match invoices with purchase orders and supporting documents.
- Resolve supplier invoice queries and maintain accurate supplier records.
- Reconcile supplier statements and monitor outstanding payments.
- Assist with supplier payment runs.
- Communicate with suppliers regarding payment status and account queries.
- Support the implementation of Accounts Payable procedures and SOPs.
- Bank Reconciliations
- Complete daily and weekly bank reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve unreconciled transactions.
- Monitor cash receipts and payments.
- Ensure accounting records accurately reflect financial transactions.
- Assist with cash-flow forecasting and reporting.
- Sales Ledger & Invoicing
- Prepare sales invoices based on approved applications and certifications.
- Accurately record transactions using
Xero and Sage 50 .
- Maintain supporting documentation for customer invoicing.
- Assist with debtor reconciliations and credit control when required.
- General Bookkeeping
- Post accounting transactions and journals.
- Maintain accurate nominal ledger records.
- Process overheads and invoices.
- Assist with VAT preparation and schedules.
- Maintain organised electronic filing systems.
- Support month-end accounting activities.
- Assist with management reporting and financial information.
- Systems & Process Improvement
- Support Xero implementation and migration projects.
- Maintain accurate records using Sage 50 Accounts Professional.
- Help strengthen financial controls and procedures.
- Document and improve finance processes.
- Ensure transactions have a clear and traceable audit trail.
- Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Previous experience in accounts payable or bookkeeping.
- Experience using Sage 50 Accounts.
- Strong bank reconciliation skills.
- Excellent Excel skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Professional communication skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable
- Experience with Xero.
- Construction industry experience.
- Knowledge of CIS.
- Experience with applications, certifications and retentions.
- AAT qualification or accounting studies.
