About the Role

Based at a residential apartment building at Cheltenham, this onsite Housing Officer will work to create a welcoming, safe, and supportive residential community, linking social housing residents with opportunities, connections and activities in the surrounding area. The role will provide end-to-end tenancy management of this portfolio, ensuring that the building is well maintained and building positive relationships with trades and contractors, whilst working within a small team of dedicated onsite social Housing Officers across greater Melbourne.


Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Establishing, maintaining and sustaining tenancies
  • Facilitating and conducting property inspections within required timeframes
  • Timely upkeep of tenancy records, including applications, renewals and agreements, bond lodgements, condition reports, and more
  • Maintaining rent arrears to an acceptable level
  • Addressing resident enquiries, VCAT and managing breaches sensitively, efficiently and effectively
  • Coordinating maintenance, including liaising with contractors for appointments and key management
  • Working with stakeholders to complete rent reviews and connect residents with their support environment
  • Managing invoices and liaising with finance to ensure they are provided and paid in a timely manner
  • Ensuring ongoing compliance with relevant legislation, contractual and regulatory requirements
  • Following the social housing service model to achieve positive outcomes for residents

Skills And Experiences

Essential

  • Experience in end-to-end property management, including leases, inspections, maintenance, arrears, breaches and VCAT processes.
  • Facilities management experience, including contractor/trade management for the property at Cheltenham.
  • Strong professional interpersonal and communication skills, and the confidence to manage diverse clients and stakeholders in a social housing environment.
  • A proactive, positive and calm approach to resident communication, and resilience when dealing with challenges and trauma.
  • The confidence to take charge and make difficult decisions.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Must hold a current Australian driver's licence, and submit a successful Criminal History Check.

Desirable

  • Current Victorian Agents Representative certificate or real estate licence.
