Sutton Bridge Power Station, located in the south-east of Lincolnshire within the South Holland district of England, is a significant 850 MW gas-fired power station. Featuring state-of-the-art GE 9FA turbine technology, the facility plays a crucial role in delivering reliable electricity to local communities and supporting the broader national grid. Opportunity Summary
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to contribute towards the success of our CCGT Power Station at Sutton Bridge. As a key member of the EC&I team, you will play a lead role in supporting asset compliance, availability, reliability, and efficiency for the power station’s electrical, controls, instrumentation, and OT systems. As well as providing first line diagnostics, repair and maintenance, you will also be at the forefront of any site continuous improvement, enhancement or upgrade projects. We also offer technical development training, and opportunities for progression.
Your scope of responsibility as EC&I Maintenance Technician includes the following key duties:
- Support the delivery of the maintenance and engineering strategy by identifying cost-saving initiatives, enhancing reliability and operability, and maximising commercial success.
- Support the EC&I maintenance strategy by performing safe, proactive, reactive, and emergency maintenance on assets.
- Support the management of the CMMS by reviewing work orders, managing backlogs, and prioritising and scheduling work packages to maintain the commercial availability of assets.
- Support the maintenance of EC&I preventative maintenance and condition-based monitoring routines within the CMMS to ensure compliance with legislation, process safety requirements, and maintenance best practice.
- Ensure EC&I documentation and records are consistently up to date, either within the CMMS or the approved document management system.
- Ensure health, safety, and environmental compliance, in line with relevant legislation.
- Supervise and set to work on-site contractors in accordance with Sutton Bridge Power Station procedures for work management and safe working principles, including reviewing RAMS packs and ensuring inductions are current.
- Support the EC&I Supervisor in developing and implementing maintenance programmes for EC&I equipment.
- Support the delivery of EC&I projects, as well as outage planning, scheduling, and coordination.
- Support outage periods by taking responsibility for assigned work packages.
- Participate in a call-out rota to support plant operations.
- Perform planned, unplanned, and emergency maintenance on electrical, control, and instrumentation systems, including identifying and rectifying faults to minimise downtime and restore normal operations.
- Regularly calibrate and test instruments such as pressure, temperature, level, and flow sensors to maintain accurate monitoring and control of processes.
- Maintain and troubleshoot control systems, including PLCs, DCS, and SCADA systems, and assist with software updates and programme backups.
- Service, repair, and inspect electrical equipment, including motors, generators, switchgear, VFDs, and high-voltage equipment, to ensure safe and reliable power distribution.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records within the site CMMS and document management systems.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives, including plant developments, modifications, and projects.

Working Relationships
The EC&I Maintenance Technician reports to the EC&I Maintenance Supervisor and may also take general direction from plant management, as it relates to the safe and efficient operation of the plant and its associated processes.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Physical requirements include standing for extended periods, climbing stairs and ladders, working from elevated platforms and walkways at varying heights, and routinely lifting up to 23 kilograms (50 pounds).
The power plant environment may involve entering confined spaces, crawling through narrow areas, and handling hazardous materials, with exposure to fumes, extreme temperatures, and noise. Work may include high heat near equipment and varying outdoor weather conditions.
Some duties may require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), which can include hard hats, safety glasses or other eye protection, respirators, or air masks, hearing protection, chemical suits, flame-resistant clothing (FRC), heat-resistant gloves, high-voltage protective gear, and fall protection. Fit testing for respirators may be required in accordance with Canadian standards such as CSA Z94.4. Strict smoking restrictions apply in and around the facility in compliance with applicable provincial and federal legislation.
Fitness for Duty
All employees participate in a Fitness for Duty Programme, which includes a post-offer medical assessment and substance screening. Ongoing random testing may be conducted post-employment.
Work Schedule
The EC&I Maintenance Technician works a Monday to Friday day shift schedule, providing consistent plant operation and support during normal business hours. This position may occasionally require extended working hours and flexible shift arrangements, including weekends and bank holidays, in response to operational needs, workload demands, or plant conditions. Participation in a call out rota, to support plant operations is required.

Professional Expertise & Qualifications
Consideration will be given to candidates with the following background and demonstrable experience:
- A relevant technical qualification, ideally at HNC, HND, or degree level, in Electrical and/or Controls and Instrumentation Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven hands-on maintenance experience with EC&I systems, including EHV and HV electrical generation and distribution systems, Distributed Control Systems (DCS), pressure and flow measurement equipment, and associated controls—preferably within power generation, petrochemical, or process-related environments.
- Practical knowledge of process plant and equipment gained in heavy engineering environments such as power generation (preferably CCGT), petrochemical, offshore oil and gas, steelworks, CHP plants, paper mills, or similar industries.
- Ability to manage multiple complex issues effectively in a challenging environment.
- Good understanding of software tools used to facilitate workflow and investigate plant issues.
- Competent in the use of IT equipment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work constructively and collaboratively with other station teams.
- Must possess a valid and unrestricted United Kingdom driving licence, and ensure it remains in good standing at all times.
