The Garment Technician role is responsible for overseeing the production & technical aspects of garment manufacturing. Working closely with the Senior Garment Technologists, Design team, Pattern Makers, Suppliers & Quality Control teams to ensure that garments are produced according to Nadine Merabi specifications, standards & critical path. To contribute to the fit, size and function of styles from concept to launch. Establish fit blocks and technical standards for Nadine Merabi brand.
Role Accountability
The WHAT
- Technical & design support: Working closely with Designers to understand and interpret garment designs and specifications. Preparing technical packs (Tech Packs) that detail fabric, trims, measurements, and construction details. Ensuring all necessary technical details are included for efficient garment production.
- Pattern & sample development: Collaborating with Pattern Makers to create and modify patterns based on garment designs & create workbooks. Overseeing the creation of garment samples and ensure they meet design specifications. Providing feedback on the fit and construction of samples, suggesting improvements when necessary.
- Production process management: Attending and documenting fit sessions to ensure garments are fit to a high standard. Ensuring key measurements are adhered to and delivered across all garments. Ensuring that garments are produced in line with quality standards, timelines, and cost constraints. Monitoring production processes to identify issues related to garment construction, fabric usage, or machinery.
- Production & supply coordination: Collaborating with production managers and manufacturers to establish production schedules to meet deadlines. Monitoring the progress of production to ensure timely delivery of finished products. Ensure that all technical aspects of production are executed smoothly to avoid delays.
- Quality: Conducting quality checks on samples and final garments to ensure they meet industry standards and customer specifications. Ensuring that garments are inspected for defects, stitching quality, measurements, and overall finish. Working with the quality assurance team to maintain consistency in product quality. Accurately communicating any fit feedback to supplier.
Accountable for:
- Ensuring all timelines relating to GT are met in accordance with the Critical Path.
- Coordinating and documenting daily communication with all suppliers including chasing fit samples.
- Approving size specs for bulk production.
- Identifying high returning styles creating awareness across the Product team and contributing to workstreams for resolution.
- Representing Nadine Merabi on Warehouse visits, if required.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous Experience working in Garment Technologist role.
- Ability to measure and grade to a high standard.
- Work experience with live fit model.
- Able to confidently own a fit session and advise during these sessions.
- Knowledge of Excel, Adobe Illustrator and Powerpoint.
- Strong organisational & time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills when dealing with factories where English is not 1st language.
- Happy to take the lead when required, but also a team player.
- Demonstrate a pro-active approach to problem solving.
- Due to the nature of the role, the ability to travel overseas for factory visits 4x per year is essential.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Ability to read patterns.
- Experience at Atelier, luxury or bridal.
- Knowledge of boning, cups, and wires.
- Sound understanding of fabrics and trims.
- Experience in a fast-paced environment.
