Job Description Summary: The External Communications & Content Manager plays a key role in shaping how the company is seen, heard, and understood across its core markets. At the centre of the organisation’s external voice, this role is responsible for building trust, strengthening reputation, and elevating the company’s profile as a leading force in the energy transition. Working closely with the Head of Communications & Brand, the role will develop compelling narratives and high-impact communications that bring the company’s purpose, ambition, and expertise to life. From proactive media engagement and thought leadership to reputation management and executive positioning, the role ensures the organisation communicates with clarity, credibility, and confidence across a fast-moving and highly visible industry. This is a strategic and hands-on role for a strong communicator who thrives on turning complex topics into meaningful stories, spotting opportunities to shape the conversation, and helping the business lead from the front in an evolving renewable energy landscape.
Role and responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver external communications and content strategies aligned to business and brand objectives.
- Shape compelling narratives and thought leadership that strengthens the company’s reputation and position in the energy transition.
- Lead proactive media engagement across core markets, building strong relationships with journalists and identifying opportunities to elevate the company’s profile.
- Manage and coordinate multi-channel external content, including website, social media, and speaking opportunities.
- Translate complex technical, regulatory, and industry topics into clear, engaging and position-driven communications for audiences.
- Manage sensitive communications through messaging, issues response, and stakeholder coordination.
- Prepare senior leaders and subject matter experts for external engagement through communications and media training, briefings and messaging support.
- Manage communications agencies, coordinating activity across markets to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment.
- Monitor media coverage, industry trends, and audience insight to continually strengthen communications effectiveness and share of voice.
- Collaborate closely with Brand Manager, Internal Communications Manager and Events Manager to create a strong holistic approach to Nadara’s communications.
Skills and experience:
- Proven experience in corporate communications, media relations, or public relations, ideally within complex, regulated, or infrastructure-related sectors.
- Strong experience developing and delivering multi-channel content and thought leadership strategies.
- Demonstrated success managing proactive media relations and external positioning across multiple markets.
- Ability to shape clear, credible narratives for a range of external audiences, including media, partners, and stakeholders.
- Experience supporting senior leaders with media engagement and public-facing communications.
- Strong judgement and experience managing sensitive issues and incidents.
- Experience in managing agencies, including briefing, coordination, and performance management.
- Comfortable operating across international and cross-cultural environments, balancing global consistency with local relevance.
- Native-level English, with exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
- Data-driven mindset with experience monitoring, reporting, and evaluating communications performance to optimise approach, messaging, and impact.
Preferred skills:
- Experience in renewable energy, energy transition, infrastructure, utilities, or sustainability-driven industries.
- Experience working across one or more of Nadara’s core markets: UK, Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, and the USA.
- Additional European languages (particularly Italian, Spanish or Portuguese).
