About the role.
We are searching for a
Offender to Recovery Support Worker as part of Wolverhampton’s substance misuse service. This is a specialist role working in partnership with
West Midlands Police to engage with individuals who may benefit from support and help them access appropriate services.
Working in a fast-paced and dynamic setting, you will undertake home visits and outreach alongside the police, offering Nacro's services to individuals who may need support.
You will complete assessments to understand each person's needs and, where appropriate, ensure they receive access to treatment and a tailored package of care.
The role will also involve engaging with local businesses and communities to raise awareness of the service and encourage referrals for individuals who may benefit from support.
You will work collaboratively with West Midlands Police and other partner agencies to ensure people receive the right support at the right time.
The key aim of the role is to engage with individuals who may not otherwise access support, assess their needs and help them to achieve their goals through appropriate treatment, interventions and ongoing support.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to
- Provide information, advice and support primarily via telephone but also face to face and in groups.
- Work in partnership with West Midlands Police to engage with clients who may require access to substance misuse and support services.
- Undertake home visits and outreach activities alongside the police to offer support and promote access to Nacro's services.
- Complete assessments to identify clients' needs, risks and suitability for treatment.
- Support clients to access appropriate treatment and develop a tailored package of care based on their individual needs.
- Deliver interventions in a wide range of settings, including criminal justice, primary care, schools, youth centres and community settings.
- Undertake elements of case management with clients as directed.
- Engage with local businesses and community organisations to promote the service and encourage referrals for individuals who may benefit from support.
- Liaise with external agencies, including GPs, treatment providers, social care services, West Midlands Police and other relevant partners.
- Work collaboratively as part of a multi‑agency approach to ensure clients receive coordinated and appropriate support.
- Support clients to achieve their goals and make positive changes in their lives.
Ideally, you will have some experience of working with substance misuse and/or in a support, health or social care setting.
Experience of outreach, community engagement or working with partner agencies would also be beneficial.
However, Nacro will consider candidates who have minimal experience but hold relevant qualifications and demonstrate the right skills and values for the role.
You will need to be confident engaging with people from a range of backgrounds, able to work independently in the community and comfortable working collaboratively with police and other agencies.
