Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team at Totton College. In this role, you will support learners participating in Supported Internships and Employability Programmes within our Pathways Provision, helping them develop the skills, confidence, knowledge, and professional behaviours needed to secure and sustain meaningful paid employment.

You will build and maintain effective relationships with employers to secure high-quality work placement opportunities for learners with SEND, ensuring placements are mutually beneficial. You will work collaboratively with employers to understand their workforce needs while implementing appropriate support strategies and reasonable adjustments that enable learners to succeed and thrive in the workplace.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop vocational profiles and individual learning plans, working closely with learners and their support networks to identify needs and employment goals.
  • Provide one-to-one and group coaching to develop learners’ employability, travel, independence, and functional skills in workplace and community settings.
  • Monitor, track, and review learner progress against individual targets, maintaining accurate records and contributing to EHCP reviews.
  • Build and maintain strong employer partnerships to secure work placements and paid employment opportunities for learners with SEND.
  • Support employers through advice, training, and workplace assessments to ensure safe, inclusive, and successful placements.
  • Assist learners with job searching, applications, Access to Work funding, and progression into sustainable employment while ensuring high levels of attendance and achievement.

Requirements for the role:

  • English and maths at Level 2. Level 3 Certificate – British Association for Supported Employment (BASE) or willingness to work towards.
  • Experience within the employability sector.
  • Experience of working in a range of employment sectors.
  • Experience of working with learners with SEND.
  • Keep up to date with current developments and adapt to changes.
  • A positive, resilient and flexible approach to work.
  • All candidates will require an enhance DBS check.
