Who are we looking for? We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Catering Assistant to support the Catering Manager in the day-to-day operation of the college kitchen. You will help deliver high-quality food and excellent customer service while ensuring compliance with food hygiene, health and safety, and allergen regulations.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing, cooking, portioning, and serving food for breakfast, breaks, lunch, and hospitality events.
  • Supporting stock control and helping to minimise food waste.
  • Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, and health & safety compliance.
  • Ensuring allergen guidance and labelling requirements are met.
  • Cleaning kitchen equipment, workspaces, and dining areas.
  • Completing records and administrative tasks as required.
  • Attending training and completing mandatory online learning.

Requirements for the role:

  • Previous catering experience, ideally within an educational or similar environment.
  • English and Maths at GCSE C/4.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene and food safety regulations.
  • Experience in using tills.
  • Experience providing excellent customer service.
  • Understanding of health, safety, and fire regulations.
  • Strong communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • All candidates will require an enhanced DBS check.
  • A positive, resilient, and flexible approach to work.
