This role offers a starting salary within Nacro’s pay structure of £28,851, per annum with expected progression to £29,572, per annum within the first year, subject to meeting clear criteria and performance standards, with further pay progression available in the future.

About the role

- HMP Dovegate as a
Resettlement Advisor , you’ll provide advice, guidance and practical, person-centred support to people in custody, helping them overcome barriers and prepare for successful reintegration into the community.
Working within a custodial setting, you’ll support individuals to improve their financial stability, wellbeing, accommodation status, independence and confidence.
You’ll work with people to identify their strengths, understand their needs and set achievable goals, providing support both before and after release.
You’ll work closely with prison staff, external agencies and partner organisations to ensure people receive coordinated support that helps them build positive futures and contributes to reducing reoffending and improving social inclusion.
- What you’ll be doing
- Providing high-quality, trauma-informed and person-centred support to people in custody, helping them address barriers and achieve positive outcomes.
- Completing holistic assessments, identifying needs and risks, and developing, implementing and reviewing individual support plans.
- Empowering and motivating individuals to engage with support, set achievable goals and develop the skills needed for successful reintegration.
- Delivering and facilitating structured interventions, including one-to-one support and group work, in response to identified needs.
- Supporting individuals with a range of issues including accommodation, finance, benefits and debt, life skills, independent living, health and wellbeing, motivation for change and disclosure of convictions.
- Building effective relationships with prison staff, statutory agencies, community organisations and other partners.
- Identifying and responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns, risks and barriers to engagement.
- Maintaining accurate records, monitoring outcomes and contributing to performance reporting and service objectives.
- Ensuring your practice meets required standards for safeguarding, health and safety, data protection and quality assurance.
- You’ll be someone who
- Has experience of delivering support, coaching, advice or interventions to people with complex needs.
- Has experience conducting assessments, developing support plans and reviewing progress against outcomes.
- Can build positive, trusting and professional relationships with people, colleagues and partner organisations.
- Communicates clearly and effectively, adapting your approach to different people and situations.
- Uses a strengths-based and non-judgemental approach, recognising individual circumstances and promoting positive change.
- Has an understanding of safeguarding principles and risk management when working with vulnerable adults.
- Can remain calm, resilient and professional when supporting people with complex needs and barriers to engagement.
- Is able to work collaboratively within a multi-agency environment and share information appropriately.
- Can organise and prioritise your workload effectively while maintaining quality.
- Has good problem-solving skills and the ability to identify practical solutions to challenges.
- Has good IT skills and can maintain accurate records using relevant systems.
Experience of working with people facing social exclusion, offending histories, multiple barriers to employment, accommodation barriers or challenges with independent living would be particularly relevant.
Experience of working within a custodial, criminal justice or probation environment, knowledge of housing legislation and accommodation pathways, a relevant qualification, and an understanding of rehabilitation and resettlement pathways would be desirable.
