Who are we looking for?
Totton College is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed individual to support our students. The role involves the planning, securing, monitoring and evaluating suitable work placements and volunteering opportunities for students across the college. The post holder will need to engage with local businesses and employers to source and secure placement opportunities and foster continued working relationships that support the employer engagement team. The post holder will also be expected to secure relevant guest speaker visits to college throughout the academic year and support planning / organisation of employer related events, trips or visits.
You will work with the Head of Curriculum and Quality, Apprenticeship Team and the Employability Engagement Team to ensure college KPI targets, termly student placement targets are met as well as promoting good news stories and experiences of students. The post-holder will work closely with Progress Coaches to engage students and support them to achieve. A strong focus will need to be applied to meet the needs of the Careers Strategy and Gatsby benchmarks.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead on the organisation of the work placement experience for students (including work shadowing and volunteering), identifying and developing opportunities in liaison with Progress Coaches and Managers.
- Lead on the management of the online work experience and CRM software, to ensure accurate data is available to track and monitor employer engagement data and WEX placements. Provide support and training to staff and employers as required.
- Work collaboratively with curriculum teams to actively promote the value of work experience to students and increase the number of students participating in meaningful work experience.
- Work with curriculum teams to ensure the college maximises marketing, events and opportunities with a particular focus on the Careers Strategy and Gatsby benchmarks.
- Liaising with students, college staff, employers, training providers, voluntary groups and any other relevant organisations to ensure the suitability of work experience opportunities.
- Support students with arranging initial interviews, liaising with employers regarding applicants and complete documentation to certify placement.
- Develop and embed a range of learning resources which contribute to the preparation of the student on their placement and also implements a process for self reflection of the placement.
- Work with external stakeholders / employers to manage, source and implement high quality work experience placements for Totton College students.
The successful applicant will need to have knowledge and experience of data entry and reporting using management information systems such as EBS and Grofar, demonstrable experience of completing risk assessments as well as a good understanding of the Careers Strategy and Gatsby Benchmarks.
