This role offers a starting salary between £26,807 - £31,982, depending on qualifications and experience. Subject to meeting performance standards and agreed criteria, there is an opportunity for salary progression within the first year, with further increases available over time. We are seeking someone who is passionate about helping young people to learn and achieve, and who can help them be ready to take their next steps. We need someone who is compassionate in their approach, and who can work with young people who may have had multiple barriers to education in the past. We want someone who is flexible and can be part of a small, local team who come together in all circumstances to put our students first.
What will I be doing as a teacher at Nacro?
As a key member of the teaching team, your main focus will always be teaching, learning, and assessment, supporting students to make appropriate progress in lessons, resulting in them achieving qualifications. Deliver high quality teaching and learning and assessment in the subjects of English, Maths and Employability, to ensure learners achieve and make good progress from their starting points. You will also play an important role within the centre community, supporting your students pastorally, and will have duties related to assurance, making sure our courses run on time, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, plan and deliver the English, Maths and Employability curriculum in line with the Education Inspection Framework (EIF), awarding body standards and Nacro curriculum guidance and quality standards.
- Implement the Nacro English, Maths and Employability strategy aims to ensure the needs of Nacro Learners are met.
- Manage the delivery, quality and performance of Nacro’s English, Maths and Employability curriculum pathways, developing and sharing best practice across Nacro education.
- Utilise Initial and diagnostic assessments to set programmes and regularly assess and measure progress from starting points and attainment of skills and qualifications through ILPs.
- Support the development of English, Maths and Employability SOW and lesson plans to ensure a high standard of teaching in these subjects.
- Consistently apply behaviour policy and promote positive behaviours of learners as well as taking appropriate disciplinary action where required and escalating concerns to management.
Qualifications
- Level 2 English and Maths Teaching qualification DET equivalent or working towards or above.
- Relevant industry experience/exposure.
