The seasonal building maintenance technician is responsible for the maintenance, repairs and overall upkeep of buildings and grounds at The Falkirk Mine. This position requires a strong commitment to safety while ensuring that facilities remain functional, reliable and well maintained.
Essential Duties:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting and mechanical systems
- Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and address issues as needed to identify hazards and reduce unplanned downtime
- Respond promptly to work orders, service calls and emergency maintenance requests
- Repair or replace fixtures, doors, windows, flooring, drywall and other structural components
- Maintain building grounds, including snow and ice removal, lawn care and cleaning
- Assist with contractor and department coordination
- Keep accurate maintenance logs, inspection reports and work orders as required by company policy
- Maintain clean, organized and hazard-free work areas
- Assist building maintenance service personnel
- Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA laws and regulations, established company safety procedures and state and federal environmental regulations
Other Duties:
- Act as a special parts runner
- Move office furniture
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of general building maintenance
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical, plumbing, HVAC and mechanical systems
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and with others while prioritising tasks
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions
- Must be able to perform all duties in a safe manner.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma required
- Valid driver’s license is required
- Technical training or certification in HVAC, plumbing and/or mechanical systems preferred
- Minimum of three years’ experience in building maintenance or a related field
