The predicted salary is between 38 - 50 Β£ per hour.
This position will safely perform all aspects of rolling stock maintenance as assigned by the supervisor. This requires a strong commitment to safety while ensuring that equipment remains functional, reliable and well maintained.
Essential Duties:
- Perform preventive maintenance such as change oil and grease and replace components on a scheduled basis.
- Troubleshoot/diagnose heavy equipment malfunctions and replace parts, repair, and rebuild as necessary.
- Dismantle and reassemble equipment using hoists and hand tools.
- Read blueprints and follow service manuals and parts lists in setting up and performing repairs and any rebuilds.
- Utilize work orders and requisitions for ordering parts and maintenance of equipment cost records.
- Advise when immediate shut-down of equipment is necessary to minimize damage or when continued operation will have no harmful effect.
- Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures and State and Federal environmental regulations.
Other Duties:
- Operate the equipment to diagnose problems.
- Operate light vehicles to travel throughout the mine site.
- Maintain shop area in a safe and clean manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Background in repair and maintenance including ability to read, understand, and use prints and manuals.
- Knowledge of mechanical, i.e., engine, transmission, drive train, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and air conditioning systems.
- Skilled in diagnosing malfunctions.
- Must be able to work rotating 12 hour shift work.
Education, Training and Experience:
- On-the-job training or vocational training is preferred.
- Must pass the necessary written and practical tests for this position.
