What We're Looking For

We are seeking a highly motivated and autonomous Trade, Legal & Compliance, Senior Advisor to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee and focus on export control regulations of countries within the region, while also assessing the impact of US-origin export controls on local operations. You will collaborate with trade professionals in other regions to develop, implement, and maintain export compliance programs as well as manage export licenses, conduct audits, and act as the regional point of contact for trade compliance issues, providing guidance and support to regional business units. This role requires a proactive approach to monitoring regulatory changes, mitigating risks, and ensuring seamless international trade operations. You will be required to work from our Bourne End (SL8 5XF), Preston (PR2 9ZD), or London (WC2H 8JR) office 3 days a week. The location of the office depends on where you are located.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive export compliance programs to ensure adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Work closely with product business units to develop and refine the strategy for classifying products, technologies, and software under export control regimes.
  • Prepare and submit export license applications where applicable.
  • Conduct internal and external compliance audits and perform risk assessments related to export activities, including the analysis of trade sanctions and embargoes.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on export compliance requirements, including deemed exports, restricted party screening, and licensing processes.
  • Engage with governmental authorities and industry forums to stay informed of trade policy developments and provide strategic counsel to regional teams.
  • Closely collaborate with regional export control teams (NALA & APAC) to ensure alignment with US regulations and local regional requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of experience in export control, trade compliance, dual-use licensing, or an equivalent field.
  • Strong understanding of international trade sanctions.
  • Strong grasp of general trade compliance issues, rules, and regulations.
  • Understanding of dual-use technology risks, encryption regulations, IT transfer risks, and re-export risks.
  • Familiarity with export compliance software (e.g., SAP Global Trade Services) and restricted party screening tools.
  • Knowledge of high-risk regions and associated compliance challenges.

Incentive Compensation

In addition to base pay, Zebra offers this role the opportunity to earn a performance-based annual cash incentive, at a target equal to 10% of base pay, in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
