Wellington Management's London office was established 40 years ago and is a full-service office of over 450 employees, with all functional areas of the firm represented. Reporting to the Regional Controller, this Senior Accountant position will be a key member of the Global Accounting department of Wellington's Finance department. The senior accountant is responsible for overseeing accounting duties related to the monthly accounting close, as well as internal and external financial reporting requirements and financial analysis. The ideal candidate will be willing to learn quickly to make an impact and take on increasing responsibilities within the group. Coaching and working closely with the accountants is an important part of this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Assume ownership of accounting and reporting for Wellington's legal entities by preparing and reviewing accounting tasks, such as journal entries and reconciliation, as well as performing financial analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of various financial statements, including providing external audit support such as audit work papers and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of monthly and quarterly internal management reporting.
  • Provide support in the completion of regulatory reporting and assist in the monitoring of regulatory compliance across entities.
  • Maintain technical knowledge in the applicable accounting and reporting standards.
  • Leverage technology to improve processes and financial controls.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of management.

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of previous working experience with at least 3 years of relevant experience in accounting.
  • Strong academic credentials with ACA (or equivalent) qualifications are required.
  • Proven ability to master new tasks quickly, coupled with strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to coach and provide guidance to the staff and team.
  • Superior communication skills, including written and verbal presentation elements.
  • Strong people skills and the ability to build trust and good working relationships are essential.
