As an Underwriter Surety based in London, you will be an integral part of our growing Surety Europe team, connecting analytical insight with hands‐on client management. You will work closely with corporates and brokers across the UK, Ireland and internationally, balancing risk underwriting with client‐facing responsibilities. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for new and existing clients, ensuring alignment with Swiss Re's risk appetite while maintaining the highest standards of client satisfaction.
- Manage your own client portfolio and transactions, identifying and developing new business opportunities across the UK, Ireland and broader Europe.
- Analyse and evaluate credit and transactional risks in collaboration with internal stakeholders, applying rigorous financial and legal due diligence.
- Approve transactions within your own authority levels and prepare structured submissions for relevant committees.
- Build and nurture strong client and broker relationships through regular, proactive engagement and meaningful face‐to‐face interactions.
- Conduct market analysis to identify changes in the underwriting, market and legal landscape, assessing their risk implications and adapting strategies accordingly.
- Collaborate with and support colleagues across the wider European Surety team, contributing to a culture of shared knowledge and continuous improvement.

Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience, preferably within a bank, surety insurer or financial institution with exposure to credit and guarantee products.
- Strong understanding of credit risks and financial markets, particularly in relation to debt financing, capital market instruments and surety/guarantee structures.
- Proven analytical and decision‐making skills, with the ability to assess complex credit and transactional risks and translate findings into clear, structured recommendations.
- Confident communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated experience engaging with clients, brokers and internal stakeholders at a professional level.
- Proficiency in English (written and verbal) is essential; additional European language skills are a strong advantage.

Compensation and Benefits
For London, the annual base salary range for this position is between GBP 63,000 and GBP 95,000 for a full‐time role. The specific salary offered considers the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role, as well as the applicant's profile, including education, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience. In addition to your base salary, Swiss Re offers an attractive performance‐based variable compensation component designed to recognise your achievements. You will also enjoy a variety of global and location‐specific benefits, eligibility of which may vary depending on the terms of Swiss Re policies and your employment contract.
