The Associate role sits within MetLife Insurance Investments and forms part of the team responsible for shaping investment strategy for MetLife's General Account investment portfolio across EMEA. Guided by our purpose – always with you building a more confident future – and our New Frontier strategy focused on stronger growth, attractive returns and all-weather performance, this is an exciting opportunity to support portfolio asset allocation, asset-liability management and investment risk management, while contributing to the effective day-to-day management of the portfolio and broader team priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary point of contact for Treasury, senior portfolio managers and the MIM trading desk in relation to trade order generation and tracking.
- Take ownership of key team reporting responsibilities, including the preparation and maintenance of data relating to transactions, holdings and overall portfolio composition.
- Support the development and implementation of AI-enabled tools to enhance portfolio analytics, streamline reporting workflows and strengthen portfolio decision-making.
- Prepare quarterly governance committee materials, partnering with relevant teams to ensure timely, accurate and high-quality delivery.
- Own and coordinate responses to EMEA portfolio data queries, ensuring accuracy, consistency and timely resolution.
- Prepare and maintain Investment Guidelines with input from senior portfolio managers.
- Act as a key liaison for Compliance, the MIM trading desk and Risk on compliance monitoring, reporting and the investigation and resolution of alerts.
- Produce regular market-based achievable rate analysis for use by insurance product teams.
- Undertake ad hoc analysis and project support as required across portfolio management and broader team initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Strong academic background – Bachelor's degree with minimum 2:1 (or equivalent) from a leading university, in a quantitative discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years work experience in investments, European life insurance or a related field, preferred.
- Knowledge of European fixed income markets.
- Strong quantitative skills and proficient working with data and using analytical tools (e.g. Excel, Aladdin).
- Working knowledge of AI-powered tools (e.g. Copilot) to improve efficiency, research and reporting.
- A self-starter who has the ability to balance multiple responsibilities and achieve results in a complex, performance-oriented environment.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Asset-Liability Management and Solvency II regulatory framework.
- Demonstrated interest in obtaining CFA qualification.
- Proficiency in one or more additional European languages.
