NABA London is currently seeking a motivated individual for the role of Course Leader - Design Area. The successful candidate will be based in London and work closely with the School Director and Head of Education. In this role, the Course Leader will ensure all activities aimed at innovating, planning and developing courses, guaranteeing full student satisfaction and providing coordination and support to external faculty. They will ensure the supply of teaching activities and didactic support during all phases of the programs, using the professional Institutions and Companies network to generate opportunities for the students.
The selected candidate will carry out the following activities:
- Course Planning
- Elaborate the schedule of assigned courses and the alignment of activities carried out by the external faculty, in collaboration with the Academic Coordination and with the campus laboratories, considering occupancy, program aims and curriculum and student experience.
- Ensure the production and reviewing of the program handbooks.
- Provide support to the Director of Education for all needs connected to program accreditation processes.
- Course Delivery
- Supervise the monitoring of course performances and related planning activities, taking necessary action and implementing any necessary changes in accordance with the Director of Education based on the results of student surveys.
- Ensure the elaboration of student study plans and provide support for the fine-tuning of student portfolios.
- Prepare purchase requests to be submitted for approval of the Director of Education (materials, visiting professors, rentals, professional services, etc.).
- Academic & Teaching Activities
- Prepare the educational materials, lectures and exams for teaching activities for all academic activities related to their program(s) including but not limited to scheduled courses and workshops; as content experts.
- Deliver a minimum of 48 hours of direct scheduled teaching time (lessons) within a calendar year.
- Supervise and support the development of high-level student projects and final portfolios.
- Ensure attendance in faculty meetings, admissions tests and examination committees.
- Guide, structure and ensure the implementation of full assessment process to a high academic standard.
- Prepare academic improvement planning reports.
- Take active role in course panels and academic panels.
- Support external boards and progression boards.
- Participate in lectures, talks and conferences online or off campus at host institutions and/or events.
- Collaborate and support in the organization of events, exhibitions, presentations, shows of student and/or academic work.
- Define and supervise the academic research activities and special projects related to their program's areas.
- Academic Dissemination
- Proactively support the dissemination and communication of School project outputs and initiatives.
- Promote and oversee producing (scientific) papers, reports, and short essays to be published and used in communication activities, in collaboration with the external faculty.
- Faculty Management
- Ensure the definition of the faculty, scouting and managing the selection of new teachers and monitoring their performances.
- Ensure tutoring activities to support students in their activities.
- Student Care
- Offer an interface and support to students concerning all academic matters.
- Ensure the monitoring of students' satisfaction and formulate proposals for improvement.
- Support non-Academic Activities
- Ensure participation in promotional activities and candidate consultation to support Enrollment and Admissions.
- Review portfolios submitted by prospective students as part of the admissions process prior to enrollment in NABA.
- Provide support in Industry Relations activities and to Career Services.
- Provide support during the Scholarship assignment process.
- Provide support to Communications in the identification of quality student projects and documentation.
- SEN (Special Educational Needs) and SpLD (Specific Learning Difficulties) Academic Coordination
- Work in close collaboration with the Student Support Office to ensure an inclusive and supportive academic environment.
- Oversee the academic alignment of personalized study plans and support measures for students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs).
- Contribute to the design and implementation of inclusive teaching practices.
- Promote awareness within the faculty, and ensure that academic materials, assessments, and learning strategies are accessible and responsive to diverse student needs.
Requirements
- Academic Qualifications: Master's degree (PhD preferred) in a relevant discipline within the field of design, arts, communication, or other related areas.
- Experience: Proven experience (minimum 7 years) in academic program coordination and course planning within higher education institutions. Demonstrated teaching experience, with a minimum of 50 hours of direct instruction annually. Experience managing academic faculty and coordinating external professionals. Familiarity with program accreditation processes and academic quality assurance standards.
- Skills & Competencies: Strong project and time management skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to support, supervise and evaluate student academic performance, competency in curriculum design and delivery, capacity to draft academic materials, ability to manage cross-disciplinary teams, experience of developing new practices, or processes, and or policies.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English (C1 level or higher); knowledge of another language is a plus.
- Other Requirements: Availability to participate in promotional and institutional events. Interest in supporting industry relations, student career services, and research dissemination. Commitment to fostering academic excellence and innovation in higher education.
- Inclusive Education & Student Support: Solid understanding of inclusive teaching principles and UK higher education policies regarding students with disabilities. Experience supporting or coordinating academic adjustments for students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs). Awareness of pedagogical approaches such as Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and inclusive assessment methods.
