JLL Work Dynamics partners with leading organisations across industry sectors, creating environments that achieve a more human-centric, resilient, and responsible approach to shaping a better world of work. With more than 45,000 specialists globally, the team enables clients to enhance the performance of their real estate portfolios and people to realise their ambitions for a more sustainable built environment.

The role At JLL, our Engineering teams support some of the most complex and safety‑critical environments in the UK. We are now seeking an experienced HV Engineer to play a key role in delivering safe, compliant, and resilient electrical operations across the Rolls‑Royce UK estate. This is not a standard electrical engineering role. It is a formally authorised, safety‑critical position with responsibility for controlling and authorising work on high‑risk electrical systems.

As an HV Engineer, you will act as the Electrical Authorised Person (HV/LV) for designated Rolls‑Royce sites, based on Derby and supporting locations across the UK. You will hold authority for the safe isolation, switching, and authorisation of High Voltage and complex Low Voltage systems, ensuring all works are delivered in full compliance with the Safe System of Work, Electrical Safety Rules, and statutory requirements. Alongside this authority role, you will remain technically engaged—supporting projects, maintenance, fault diagnosis, inspections, and asset reliability across a highly critical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the Electrical Authorised Person (HV/LV) within your defined area of appointment
  • Control and authorise work on HV, LV, and complex LV electrical systems
  • Prepare, review, and check HV switching programmes and safety documentation
  • Undertake isolations, proving dead, restoration of supplies, and transfer of control
  • Issue, control, suspend, and cancel permits to work and safety documents
  • Verify the competence of the Person in Charge (PiC) and monitor works on site, stopping work immediately if safety is compromised
  • Provide training and mentorship to new and existing competent persons
  • Review and approve RAMS for high‑risk electrical activities
  • Act as Duty Authorised Person when appointed, maintaining system oversight, and manage access to high-risk infrastructure
  • Provide technical leadership during outages, shutdowns, critical works, and project works
  • Diagnose complex faults and support planned and reactive maintenance activities
  • Ensure inspections, testing, and remedial actions meet statutory and client standards
  • Maintain accurate records, schematics, and asset documentation
  • Promote a strong safety culture, including stop‑work authority where required

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Electrical trade qualification or engineering qualification (UK‑recognised or equivalent)
  • Proven experience working with High Voltage and complex LV electrical systems
  • Currently appointed as an Electrical Authorised Person (HV/LV) or demonstrably capable of assessment
  • Strong knowledge of Safe Systems of Work, Permit to Work, and isolation procedures
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • C&G Level 2 & 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to travel UK‑wide and work flexibly for critical operations

Desirable

  • Test and inspection certification
  • Experience supporting HVAC electrical interfaces
  • Familiarity with critical or regulated environments
  • First aid qualification including resuscitation
