The AI orchestration of your wildest imagination. n8n is the open workflow orchestration platform built for the new era of AI. We give technical teams the freedom of code with the speed of no-code, so they can automate faster, smarter, and without limits. Backed by a fiercely inventive community and 500+ builder-approved integrations, we’re changing the way people bring systems together and scale ideas for impact.

Since our founding in 2019, we’ve grown into a diverse team of over 260 - working across Europe and the US, connected by a shared builder spirit and with our centre of gravity in Berlin. Along the way, we’ve:

  • Cultivated a community of more than 650,000 active developers and builders
  • Earned 190K+ GitHub stars, making us one of the world’s Top 40 most popular projects
  • Backed by top investors, from Sequoia’s first German seed to our SAP's recent strategic investment - bringing us to a $5.2bn valuation

Your main goal will be to make n8n's Core Platform ready for the company's next stage of growth: more scalable, reliable, secure, and flexible as customer usage and technical complexity increase. You'll own the foundations that everything else, including our AI and agent capabilities, is built on.

To do so, here are your responsibilities:

  • OWN THE CORE PLATFORM STRATEGY & ROADMAP
    • Define and communicate the product strategy and roadmap for the Core Platform in partnership with Engineering and Product leadership.
    • Prioritize foundational investments based on customer impact, enterprise needs, technical risk, and engineering effort, and make trade-offs between near-term customer needs, technical debt, and long-term architecture explicit.
    • Lead product discovery for technically complex problems, engaging directly with enterprise customers and internal customer-facing teams.
  • SCALABILITY, RELIABILITY & EXECUTION ENGINE
    • Drive work on the scalability and reliability of n8n's execution engine, including areas like worker pools and distributed execution.
    • Improve the reliability of triggers and execution behaviour across complex deployment setups, from multi-main Cloud environments to self-hosted enterprise installations.
    • Shape a more secure and flexible approach to executing code within n8n.
  • MAJOR RELEASES & CROSS-ORG ALIGNMENT
    • Drive the planning and release of major or breaking platform versions, including migration strategy, stakeholder communication, and risk management.
    • Establish clear success measures and keep the squad accountable for outcomes, not only delivery.
    • Act as the bridge between the Core team and the wider org: Product, Sales, Solutions Engineering, Customer Success, and Support, making platform trade-offs legible without oversimplifying them.
    • Treat internal product teams as customers of the platform: proactively mine their roadmaps for implicit platform requirements and turn cross-cutting needs into explicit Core Platform work before they become blockers.

REQUIREMENTS

Must-haves

  • Platform product experience: You have 5+ years in Product, with at least 2 to 3 years on platform, infrastructure, developer-facing, or backend/API products.
  • Technical depth: You're credible with senior engineers. You can reason about distributed systems, execution models, and reliability/scalability trade-offs, and hold your own in an architecture discussion. You're at home with non-functional requirements, where the details are the product.
  • Complex delivery track record: You've led cross-team technical initiatives with real delivery risk, ideally including a migration or breaking change.
  • Prioritization under ambiguity: You make trade-offs explicit and connect foundational or technical-debt work to customer and commercial outcomes.
  • Ownership and autonomy: You grab problems without being asked, fix what you see broken, and drive outcomes without waiting for direction.
  • Exceptional communication: You make complex platform topics understandable for technical and non-technical audiences alike.
  • Enterprise platform reality: You understand what running software in customer-controlled environments means, including self-hosted, air-gapped, and restricted deployments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Hands-on ability: You can read code or prototype, even if you're not shipping it.
  • Enterprise exposure: You've worked with B2B SaaS requirements like security, compliance, or deployment complexity.
  • Security partnership: You're comfortable working with security teams on code execution, isolation, or compliance topics.
  • Domain familiarity: You know workflow automation, orchestration, or open-source / developer-community products.
  • Writing culture: You default to writing things down to create clarity and alignment.
