We're looking for an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead and continually improve our EHS strategy across multiple Coventry sites. This is a high-impact leadership role where you'll influence every part of the business, ensuring legal compliance, driving continuous improvement and creating an environment where safety is everyone's responsibility.

Working closely with senior leaders and operational teams, you'll shape how we manage environmental, health and safety across our manufacturing facilities. From leading ISO management systems and external audits to developing training programmes and reducing risk, you'll play a critical role in protecting our people while supporting the delivery of world-class defence products.

If you're passionate about building a positive safety culture, enjoy influencing stakeholders at every level and want your work to make a genuine difference, this could be the perfect opportunity.

What you’ll get in return

  • Performance rewards – discretionary bonus opportunities
  • Flex your day – flexible start and finish times (subject to manager approval and operational needs)
  • Time to recharge – 25 days’ holiday + 8 bank holidays, with the option to buy more through our Holiday Purchase Scheme
  • Support for Defence – two weeks’ paid leave for Reservists and Cadets, plus paid leave for Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs)
  • Future security – competitive pension scheme (9% combined employer/employee contributions)
  • Peace of mind – life cover at 3x base salary
  • Health & wellbeing first – BHSF Cash Healthcare Plan to support everyday health costs
  • Grow with us – career development and advancement opportunities within a global business
  • Supportive environment – a team culture built on innovation, collaboration, and purpose

What you’ll be doing

You'll lead Environmental, Health & Safety across our Coventry sites, ensuring the business remains compliant with all relevant legislation while continually improving our safety culture and environmental performance. Your expertise will directly influence how we protect our people, facilities and operations every day.

You'll take ownership of our Environmental and Health & Safety Management Systems, maintaining ISO 14001 and implementing and driving ISO 45001 standards across the business. You'll coordinate internal and external audits, manage relationships with regulatory bodies, monitor legislative changes and ensure the business remains fully compliant with evolving legal and corporate requirements. Your work will give the organisation confidence that our operations continue to meet the highest standards.

You'll champion a proactive approach to risk management by leading hazard assessments, COSHH programmes, incident investigations and corrective actions. Working closely with managers and employees, you'll identify opportunities to reduce risk, improve processes and embed a genuine zero-harm culture across every department.

You'll also lead EHS training and awareness programmes, maintain competency matrices, oversee inductions and provide expert advice to colleagues at every level of the business. By building strong relationships across operations, engineering and leadership teams, you'll help ensure Environmental, Health & Safety becomes an integral part of everything we do.

Our team embraces modern technologies, including AI-assisted tools, to work smarter and deliver better results. Candidates should either have experience using AI tools or demonstrate a willingness to learn and apply them in their role.

What we’re looking for

We're looking for an experienced EHS professional who combines strong technical knowledge with the ability to influence people, drive continuous improvement and create a positive safety culture across a complex manufacturing environment.

Essential

  • NEBOSH National General Diploma (or higher) in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Extensive Environmental, Health & Safety experience within a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience leading internal and external audits and working with regulatory bodies such as the HSE.
  • Strong knowledge of UK Environmental, Health & Safety legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Experience leading incident investigations, risk assessments and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach.
  • Experience using AI tools or a willingness to learn and apply them within the role.

Desirable

  • Experience within defence, aerospace, engineering or other highly regulated manufacturing industries.
  • Experience implementing behavioural safety or zero-harm initiatives.
  • Experience managing environmental compliance programmes, including COSHH, DSEAR, PUWER, LOLER and REACH.
  • First Aid, Fire Safety or environmental management qualifications.

If you're passionate about creating safer workplaces and want to lead Environmental, Health & Safety across a growing global defence manufacturer, we'd love to hear from you.
