Overview

Temporary Contract (possibility of permanent) in Heysham. We are working with a global fine chemicals company engaged in manufacturing a range of products. You will work on synthesis and analysis of a diverse product catalogue, in a team to produce fine chemicals to high quality within project timescales.

Responsibilities

  • Core responsibility: synthesis of fine chemical products on a scale requested by the customer, up to 20 litres.
  • Perform chemical reactions, take these reactions through various steps, and liaise with QC to test specific reaction steps and/or final products.
  • Follow specifications provided by both customers and the company; perform activities at the fume hood; follow standard operating procedures, wider administration, and risk assessments in a highly regulated environment.
  • Complete key administration regarding safety, project progress, and respond to internal and external audits.
  • Work to ISO 14001 and be responsible for safe disposal of waste from reactions or chemical spills.

We are recruiting for a chemist who can join at a level appropriate to their background, and therefore the role can be tailored to the person who joins. The role can change depending on your chemical qualification level, and graduates who will be completing courses this year are of interest.
