Principal Nuclear Safety Assessor
Location: Flexible (Office can be Cumbria or Cheshire), Hybrid / remote working also available

A consultancy firm operating in the nuclear and high‑hazard sectors is looking to expand its specialist risk and safety team. This permanent opportunity is ideal for experienced professionals who thrive in both technical and leadership roles and want to contribute to nationally significant safety and infrastructure work.
What You’ll Do
- Lead hazard identification workshops (e.g. HAZOP).
- Develop structured safety case arguments using Claims/Arguments/Evidence (C/A/E) techniques.
- Produce and manage safety documentation across all stages of the plant lifecycle.
- Liaise with clients, regulators, and multidisciplinary safety teams to develop robust and coherent safety cases.
- Mentor and guide junior consultants and project teams.
- Identify and contribute to business development opportunities.
- Support regulatory interactions and client engagement activities.
Your Background
- Extensive experience in nuclear safety case development and assessment techniques (DBA, LOPA, PSA, ALARP, fault and consequence analysis).
- A relevant degree (e.g. Physics, Mechanical/Chemical/Control/Electrical Engineering).
- In‑depth knowledge of UK nuclear safety regulations and industry standards.
- Proven leadership and mentoring experience.
- Strong interpersonal, client‑facing, and written communication skills.
- Eligibility for security clearance due to the nature of the work.
